Remarks:

  • Quarter-hour repeater with two hammers on gongs (one is missing on the movement shown)
  • Column-wheel chronograph (central stop second)
  • Chrono cadrature on the bridge side, repeater parts on the dial side
  • The movement is marked with two Swiss patent numbers
    • 334 on the dial side
      CH334 was granted to C. Barbezat-Baillot in 1889, and cancelled in 1904.
    • 12172 on the bridge side
CH12172 was granted to Stolz Frères in 1896, and cancelled in 1901.
    • Probably Invicta used parts of these patents after they were cancelled, or the have licenses their usage before
  • Identification as Invicta:
    • Several pocket watches signed Invicta have repeater movements marked with the two patent numbers 334 and 12172
    • So far I could not find movements with these two patent numbers in pocket watches from other manufacturers
    • The base movement was registered by Picard (= Invicta) in 1896 in the Swiss Official Gazette of Commerce as model no. 16 -> see extra picture
